Filipino Food for Thanksgiving: How to Add a Handa to Your Holiday Table

Want Filipino food at your Thanksgiving table? Anne’s Filipino Catering in Avondale serves the West Valley. Pancit, adobo, lechon kawali, and lumpia — all fresh. Text to book before holiday slots fill.

Every November, I get messages from friends and customers saying the same thing: “Anne, I want Filipino food at Thanksgiving, pero I do not want to cook two full meals.” I get it. You are already stressing about the turkey, the mashed potatoes, the pie. The last thing you need is a whole separate kitchen operation for pancit and lumpia.

That is exactly why I started offering Thanksgiving catering. You handle the turkey. I will bring the handa.

Filipino Food Belongs on a Thanksgiving Table

Think about what Thanksgiving is really about. It is a salu-salo. A big gathering where everyone eats together, food keeps coming, and nobody leaves hungry. That is Filipino culture to its core. We do not do small. We cook in bulk, we feed the neighbors, we make sure there is always sabaw on the stove and rice in the pot.

Filipino flavors also play beautifully alongside a traditional Thanksgiving spread. The savory-sour punch of adobo cuts right through the richness of turkey and gravy. Lechon kawali brings crispy pork skin. Kare-kare adds deep nutty warmth that feels completely at home next to root vegetables and stuffing. And pancit? Noodles for long life at a table full of people you love.

This is not restaurant food. These are authentic Pangasinan family recipes passed down, not printed out.

The Dishes That Shine Alongside Your Turkey

Pork Adobo is the crowd-pleaser that never fails. Tender, saucy, that perfect balance of vinegar and soy. People who have never had Filipino food before always go back for seconds.

Lechon Kawali is the showstopper. Crispy pork belly, crunchy on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth inside. Put this next to your turkey and watch it disappear first.

Chicken Inasal brings smoky lemongrass-kissed grilled flavor. It smells incredible and is a lighter option for guests watching the heavier dishes.

Kare-Kare is for guests who want something more adventurous. That rich peanut-based stew with oxtail, served with bagoong on the side. It sparks conversations every time.

Pancit Bihon or Pancit Canton loaded with vegetables and meat. Order both because they are different enough that guests will try each one.

Pancit Palabok with bright orange shrimp sauce and toppings. It looks beautiful on a holiday spread and tastes even better.

And of course Lumpia Shanghai. At /bin/bash.90 per piece, you order more than you think you need. There will still not be enough.

For dessert add-ons: Leche Flan, Biko, Ube Halaya, and Cassava Cake. One of each is a whole dessert course that people talk about for years.
