The dessert table is usually an afterthought, and then it is the thing everyone photographs. Here are the Filipino sweets I would put out for a crowd, and which ones travel best.
The classics that always land
- Leche Flan, the rich caramel custard that is basically required at a Filipino party
- Biko, sticky rice cooked in coconut and brown sugar, filling and easy to slice
- Ube Halaya, the purple yam jam that guests always ask about
Lighter, chilled options
If your party runs warm or long, these sit better on the table:
- Buko Pandan, young coconut and pandan jelly in cream, cool and not too sweet
- Maja Blanca, a soft coconut pudding with corn
Easy to serve for a crowd
- Cassava Cake, dense and sliceable, holds up for hours
- Puto, steamed rice cakes that are easy to grab by hand
- Suman, sticky rice logs in banana leaf, a good pabaon for guests to take home
How much dessert for your headcount
For a party where dessert is one or two options next to a full meal, plan one to two servings per guest. If you want a real dessert spread, pick three or four kinds and let people sample.
